Colman Silk is a respected classics professor who loses his position because of a remark assumed racist. He gets involved in an affair with a troubled janitor Faunia Farley. "The Human Stain" in this film mainly refers to the effect people have on another's life which sometimes can not be erased forever. This film review tries to look at this effect through the characters and the symbols used in "The Human Stain".
